Two brothers from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh were arrested for allegedly duping a woman with the promise of a job in the Education Ministry, officials said.

Saurabh Singh, 24, and Sagar Singh, 27, were accused of duping the woman of Rs 3 lakh under the guise of processing and interview fees, according to authorities.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) MK Meena stated that the woman, who is still in school, filed a complaint after she responded to a Facebook post by ‘Karan Tiwari’ about the group ‘Sant Nagar Burari’, which advertised 12 seats in the ministry for graduates.

After initiating communication through the page, the alleged scammer detailed the application process and then requested payment for the processing and application fees via a Gmail account ([email protected]).

The accused brothers maintained contact and raised around Rs 3 lakh through multiple transactions.

An extensive investigation into the money trail led to their arrest in Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad, where police seized four smartphones, three SIM cards and a basic keypad phone.

Further questioning about the suspects is ongoing, police said.
